Best-Ever Banana Bread?

I went grocery shopping today and found this recipe on the back of the flour.  It claims to be the "best-ever banana bread", so I thought why not give it a try?

I've made banana bread before... okay numerous times because it may just be one of my favorite things, ever... but I've always used my mom's recipe.  Which is amazing, by the way.

Buuut I couldn't resist trying this recipe.


It was ok.  I wouldn't say the best banana bread ever, but it's pretty good.

I like banana bread to be a little on the gooey side, and this recipe makes it a little more dry.  A slice of this bread would go great with a cup of coffee or tea :)

Best-Ever Banana Bread

1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups mashed, ripe banana (3 to 4 medium bananas)
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups Flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350F and grease 2 8x4 inch pans or 1 9x5 inch pan.
Mix sugar and butter in large bowl; Add eggs, bananas, buttermilk and vanilla.
Stir in flour, baking soda, salt, and nuts until moistened; Pour into pans.
Bake for about 1 hour (until light brown on top).  Remove from oven and cool.
